Making money online through blogging is easier now than it has ever been before. Now-a-days you don’t need any knowledge about coding, computers, or design in order to create a great looking website. In this article I am going to give you all of the information I know about “how to start blogging for money”.
Where to Start Blogging
Before I jump into the various ways that you can make money from your blog, I want to briefly go over the essential things that are needed in order to get your blog started. When you’re looking for information about making money online, you will run across people who will tell you that you have to purchase various programs and tools to get stared, and that simply is not true.
The only things that you need to start blogging are a registered domain name (URL, or name or your website), a hosting platform (basically a place to store your site) a keyword tool and I would highly recommend some training.
Those are the only things that you need, and don’t let anyone try to tell you that there is something extremely expensive that you need in order to get started.
You can purchase a registered domain for around $10 a year, from a place like Domain.com, Namecheap.com, or Godaddy.com. You can get reliable cheap webhosting from places like Bluehost, or my personal favorite place Wealthy Affiliate. They not only host your websites, but they provide a keyword tool, and extensive training on how to set up your website, and get your articles ranking in Google.
I would not recommend starting without getting some sort of training, it will make it a lot easier, and ensure that you won’t spend a bunch of time writing content without ever seeing any reward.
Ways to Start Making Money From Your Blog
There are many different ways that you can make money from your blog, and here I am going to give you information about the top three ways.
- Affiliate Programs
- Advertising
- Creating your own product
Each of those three ways are great ways to make money from your blog, but there are different ways to go about doing each.
Affiliate Programs
When you are creating your blog, one of the most important decisions you’ll make, is what it will be about. The main thing to keep in mind, is that you have to find a problem that people have, and then you have to help them solve it. Once you know the specific theme of your website, you can begin to find affiliate programs that will pay you for getting people to purchase their products.
You can find these programs by simply Googling “What your site is about” + affiliate program. For example if I had a website helping people lose weight (I wouldn’t recommend making a website about) I would Google Weight loss + affiliate programs.
No matter what you choose to make your blog about, you will be able to find related products to recommend, and an affiliate program to go with it. Amazon has a good affiliate program, and as you know, they sell just about everything you can think of.

Advertising
Companies spend millions if not billions of dollars a year advertising their products through various platforms. Once you start getting people to your website, you can start making some decent money from advertisements.
There are two different types of ads that you can use on your site:
- Pay-per-click Ads
- Relevant Advertisers
Pay-per-click ads
These are small ads such as banners, and sidebar pictures that you can display on your website, and earn a little bit of money every time someone clicks on one of them. The amount per click can range from a few cents to several dollars depending on the demand and competition.
Putting these types of ads on your website is something some people will do, and some people won’t. When you have these ads on your blog, if someone clicks on them, they will be taken away from your site, which will keep them from continuing to view your content. That is just something to keep in mind when putting on the ads.
These ads can be added through the use of Google AdSense.
Relevant Advertisers
Another way to make money through advertisements, is by contacting a relevant company, and simply asking them if they would like to advertise on your blog.
This route is something that might take a little more time to achieve because most companies are going to want proof that your website is bringing in a decent amount of traffic.
Creating Your Own Product
This is something that will most-likely have to be done later down the road, after you have already established your website, and have a healthy amount of traffic to your website.
The type of product that you create will vary widely depending on the topic that your site is mainly about, but I will give you few examples in order to give you a place to start.
Let’s go back to the weight loss example I brought up earlier. If I had creating a website, and had hundreds of people visiting it everyday, I might use the information that was on my blog, and organize it into an EBook. I would then advertise that book on my website, and that would create an extra amount of income every time someone purchased one.
A book is not the only thing that you can create, I’ve seen people create online video courses, membership programs, and even actual physical products that went with their website.
When it comes to creating your own product, be creative and make sure that it is high quality.
